I’m probably a lot like you. I knew what was going on in Haiti, I’d heard a bit about the ecological disaster and the problems with starvation and poverty. Beyond reading about it a few times though, I really didn’t know that much.
Part of what Collage for a Cause is all about is raising awareness and empathy for what’s going on in Haiti right now. Instead of just reading about it and hearing more numbers, one of our goals was to bring you a glimpse into what it’s really like over there.
The interview above is with Kim Jones. She’s spent time in Haiti doing missions work, and helped found Hope for Haiti. Topics include some of what it’s like over there, and some of what’s being done by normal everyday people to help make a difference.

Welcome to Collage for a Cause
Valentine’s Day 2010 was a day to meet our fellow Seattle-ites and band together, with one core mission beyond anything else – everyone has something to give. We decided to come together and create a community fundraiser event for Haiti on February 14th. We used a fun creative collage process and explored the ways we give from our hearts when we don’t have money to give.
Through coming together as a community, we had the opportunity to connect, share, find solutions, and learn more about how situations like what has happened in Haiti, show us the importance of community coming together, creating together and sharing with one another.
The event was so much fun that we’ll do it again for another cause.
